Sittin on Top of the World

So Amy's birthday was last weekend and I planned the most fabulous evening for her! Knowing Amy well, I knew that she would love nothing more than a classy meal and cocktails with her four best friends, so I made reservations at one of the best Italian restaurants in Pudong atop the Ritz Carlton overlooking the Bund and the Huang Pu River. Of course it was just as amazing for me because I never would have done anything like that otherwise...

Anyway, we blind folded her in the taxi (of course) and took her into the Ritz, up in a elevator because unmasking her and leading her to our window-side table overlooking the Pearl Tower at dusk. Pretty wooo-mantic for five fabulous ladies if I do say so myself! Here was our view during dinner...

From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, they waitstaff treated us like a party of princesses. I am sure that Amy's birthday had something to do with it, of course, but it was also Women's Day (a holiday celebrated throughout Asia, but not in the US for God knows why). Before dinner, they brought us a bottle of  champagne, on the house, then all the bread we could eat. We ordered several dishes that were all lovely - and a few cocktails. Then following our dinner, they brought us free Tiramisu, coffees, lattes and tea, followed by a birthday cake complete with a candles and a singing choir. Of course, a couple shots of lemoncello concluded the evening. Amy was feeling on top of the world, and I must admit, I was even feeling pretty special after such treatment at the Ritz Carlton.

After dinner, we took Amy to Glo London across the river for a couple more drinks. Turns out, it was ladies night and we got all the mojitos we could drink (dangerous). For whatever reason, Dawn, Anna and Christina were feeling lame so they stayed long enough for half a drink. I was a trooper and told Amy that I would stay with her all night if she wanted! Paul ended up meeting us at Glo and well, and the three of us ended up take ridiculous pictures in the corner of the bar for like 10 minutes... goodness I love my friends! We sure know how to have a good time just being ridiculous!
